John and I are SO excited with our little boy!!! So my sister was right all along. All those other people, including my OB, were totally wrong. I all ready have lots of blue outfits for my little son, thanks to my nephews.
Baby D at first was not still at all. He kept moving around so much that it was hard for the u/s tech to get the measurements. She asked us right away if we wanted to know the gender and we said yes. So about 20 minutes or so, she said I think I have all the pictures I need for your dr. I asked her, did you get to see the gender, and she said yes. She than starting pointing out all the body parts to us and than we got our shot, perfectly clear it's a boy. I'm going to have to take pictures of the u/s so you can all see it.

Polls have closed!!!
Well my dear blogging friends as you can see the gender poll has closed. In just a few more hours we will know (hopefully) what gender Baby D is. I'm SO excited you have no idea!!! Originally my ultrasound was schedule for 8:30 a.m but last week they called and said that it had to be re-scheduled for the afternoon, so it's tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. I'll try to post the results as soon as I can. John and I took the day off from work tomorrow so it will be nice to sleep in. After the u/s we will have lots of phone calls to make to our families to tell them the good news. For dinner, John and I are going out to celebrate!!!
From the results of the polls, I see the majority of you think that Baby D is a girl. I have to say that everyone in my family who have taken a guess have all said girl too. The ONLY person who thinks Baby D is a boy is my sister. Either sis is right or she is wrong. Even my Dr. has told me twice that he thinks Baby D is a girl as well. The Chinese Gender Calendar says boy. I had a gut feeling that it was a girl too, but a few weeks ago I had a dream that we were at the u/s and I could clearly see that it was a boy. So ever since that dream, I've been leaning towards boy.
We will have to wait and see who's right!!!!

Week 17
17 weeks and Baby D is the size of an onion this week!!!
Baby
Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.
How far along? 17 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 9 lbs
Maternity clothes? Yes but only jeans. I'm still wearing my pre-pregnancy shirts and sweaters.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I sleep really good every night with one bathroom stop. There are some days I need a nap but most of the time I can go without one.
Best moment this week: Counting down the days to our "BIG" u/s.
Movement: No but I'm hoping soon.
Food cravings: I've been craving junk food, McDonald's, Burger King, anything bad is what I've wanted all week.
Gender: Don't know.
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
What I miss: A glass of wine with my meals. I'm starting to miss alcohol once in awhile. I think spring and summer will definitely be a hard time. No more cold beer.
What I am looking forward to: My "BIG" ultrasound in 2 days!!!
Weekly Wisdom: I don't have one
Milestones: For me, every week that goes by is a milestone. It's 7 days closer to when I finally get to meet Baby D.
Here are my belly shots at 17 weeks.

Week 16
This week Baby D is the size of an avocado.
Baby
Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.
How far along? 16 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 9 lbs
Maternity clothes? Yes but only jeans. I'm still wearing my pre-pregnancy shirts and sweaters.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I sleep really good every night with one bathroom stop
Best moment this week: Going out with John tonight
Movement: No but hopefully soon
Food cravings: Granny Smith Apples
Gender: Will know in 10 days!!!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
What I miss: My sister, nephews, and grandmother
What I am looking forward to: My "BIG" ultrasound in 10 days!!!
Weekly Wisdom: I don't have one
Milestones: Making it to 16 weeks. I can't believe how far along I am all ready.
And here are my week 16 belly pictures. The top one was taking at night. I always feel like I'm so much bigger at night than during the day, so I took a picture to compare. I don't see much of a difference though.

Week 15
Baby D is the size of the fruit that is now in season; a navel orange.
Baby
Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl! (Don't be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby's sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby's position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.")
Symptoms
It's funny to think that a baby that looks pretty human can only be 4 inches long.
The one symptom that I have had lately is a headache. I'm not sure if it's pregnancy related or not, but they are not fun. I actually went to bed yesterday at 8:30 because it was pretty bad. I start getting them in the afternoon and they don't seem to go away. I'm not taking anything for them either. I could probably take Tylenol, but I would rather deal with the pain than to take anything. I've never been big on taking any medicine.
Besides the headache everything remains the same. I have noticed in the past few days that my belly seems to be firming up. When I touch it, it seems a little harder than normal. Since I took a belly pic this week, I'll take one on Week 16.
I hope everyone has a nice weekend!!!

Belly Shots & OB Appt
Here are my 14w5d belly shots from this morning. As you can see I'm carrying pretty low. My belly is from my belly button down. I'm wondering when will the top even out with the bottom. I guess I'll have to wait.
Yesterday I had another Dr.'s appt and everything went really well. I heard Baby D's heart beat again. It's amazing that tiny little sound. The heart beat was beating at 160 bpm yesterday. Seems like Baby D has a heart like his/her mom's, always beating pretty fast. So that of course was the good news. The bad news, I've gained 9 lbs!!! Oh my!! I do have an appetite and it's definitely showing on the scale. He told me that there will be weeks where I'll put on a lot and some where I don't. Let's hope the next few weeks I don't put on much. I have to keep working out at the gym, lol. So my next appt is in 3 weeks instead of 2, and that's because he wants to see me after my "BIG" u/s. Hurry up March 30, I can't wait for that day to arrive.

Week 14
Again I'm off by a few days. Baby D is the size of a lemon this week.
Baby
This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.
In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.
Symptoms
Overall I'm feeling great. I could not have asked for a better pregnancy so far. This has been unbelievable. I'm so excited to be in my 2nd trimester, and from what everyone tells me, it's the best trimester.
I'm still going to the gym 4 times a week for an hour at a time. I do 30 minutes on the elliptical machine and 30 minutes on the treadmill. My OB is always emphasizing how important exercise is during pregnancy, and I'm totally following his orders. I feel great when I leave their and it definitely helps me sleep better.
I still don't think I have much of a belly bump. I went to my cousin's birthday party yesterday and no one could tell I was pregnant. I guess my bump is still very small. I can't wait to get a bigger bump where people know I'm pregnant.
Last week my mom and I went shopping for maternity clothes and we had so much fun. I bought a few items. I've been wearing maternity jeans all week and love them. I love how you just pull them up. There is no button or zipper. They are very comfortable although they keep falling off my butt. I guess my belly is not big enough to hold them up. So you see me constantly pulling them up so they don't fall.
I'm going to take a belly shot tomorrow morning so stay tune.

Good-bye 1st Trimester!!!
Dear 1st Trimester,
I'm SO excited to be saying good-bye to you and moving on to the 2nd trimester. The only complaint I have, is the two occasions where I saw a tiny bit of spotting and of course I freaked out. But other than that, I have to admit, that you were extremely good to me. I'm SO thankful and happy that I never experienced morning sickness, nausea, or any queasiness what so ever. Smells never bothered me either. Of course I felt very fatigued in the beginning, but it seems like right around 8 weeks I started feeling pretty good physically. I don't know HOW I made it without all those unpleasant symptoms, but I thank God that I did. I'm glad I never lost my appetite or felt yucky. I have to say that I felt and I still feel physically good about this whole pregnancy experience.
Although you were really good to me, I'm excited to be leaving you behind. Just knowing that I was still in the dread full 1st tri always made me worried. The first few weeks seemed so long. Everytime I would go in for my ultrasounds, I was always worried that the tech would tell me that she couldn't see a heartbeat anymore. I was constantly worried if something wrong was happening to Baby D. Was Baby D still alive? Was he/she doing okay? Was that tiny heart still beating after each spotting occasion? Would I go through the experience of m/c #3? I know that at anytime throughout the 40 weeks, something can go wrong and something could happen to your baby, but it's not the same 1st tri feeling. Just knowing that my m/c rate drops to 1% in the 2nd tri is a reassuring factor. I am no longer in the highest percentage rate of m/cs. I feel more relieved and more confident with the pg as I enter my 2nd tri. I feel like Baby D WILL be here in about 26 weeks.
I'm looking forward to my 2nd tri. Looking forward to see as Baby D grows week by week. As he/she becomes stronger and healthier. I can't wait to finally have a good baby bump. I can't wait for the day we find out what Baby D is so I can start shopping. I can't wait to finally feel he/she move. There are so many new and exciting things that are going to happen during this time period and I can't wait to experience them all!!!
Good-bye 1st tri!! I have to say I won't miss you at all.
Love Silvina
