Week 34
Baby
Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
I had a very nice weekend. Saturday afternoon, John and I met up with his mom, sisters, aunt, and cousin and we all went to the beach. It was so nice to just sit and relax. Than we met up with them later that night for dinner. His aunt, cousin, and one sister had never been up our way since our wedding, so it was nice that they came and saw the house too. I'm glad that Baby D's room is getting somewhat ready because they were able to see the progress.
Sunday was my baby shower!!! It was so nice to see a lot of family and friends. I got so much stuff, especially clothes. This little boy is going to be dressed for a very long time. Now all I have to do is put away the clothes and separate them by size.
Last Thursday I had my first physical therapy session and boy did that help. That night was the first night I was able to toss and turn in bed without any pain. I'm going this evening for my second session and hopefully I'll feel even better. I'm hardly in pain anymore which is good. I guess my OB was right when he said that the therapy would definitely help me.
